Trolls. Haters. They're pretty much the same thing in my opinion.
Yesterday I posted a link to Book Explosions on Facebook asking for reviewer's. In the terms and conditions it says they have to adhere to my "Don't have anything nice to say, Don't say anything at all policy." Apparently that is too hard for the people who thrive on trashing and bashing. Instead of ignoring the post and saying to themselves, "Nah, I don't like that policy so I won't sign up. I'll just do my own thing." They did what they do best. Trash and Bash. Internet trolls. I replied to the post, only to clarify some of their worries on the policy, but it was worthless, and I refused to keep replying to people who only want to argue, and have the "It's my way or the highway attitude." It's a free world people. I do what I want in this regard. The best thing to do when faced with a troll or troll's is leave, ignore it, be the bigger person and move on. Or in this case, leave the group and remove the post completely. My main goal for creating Book Explosions is to spread my LOVE of books. Not hate. For that reason I chose to only review books that I enjoyed, and rated 3 stars or higher. Anything lower than that, or any book that I just could not finish because it was littered with spelling, grammatical and/or technical errors will not be reviewed, and that's my prerogative. The rating system isn't 'skewing' book reviews in any way. In fact, most people I know follow this as a general rule. If we don't like the book we're reading we won't review it. End of story. If the book wasn't worth me finishing it, why would I bother writing a review? Unlike others, I'm not into the whole trashing and bashing. I close the book and move on to the next. I'm not saying all reviewer's are into that sort of thing. It might not be your thing. It's my thing. It's Book Explosions thing. The same way NY Times only post books that reach the bestseller list (Not comparing myself to them in anyway by the way). We only review books that are bestsellers or potential bestsellers in OUR eyes. Don't like it. Don't visit my site. Move on. No one is forcing you to be there. There is a big difference between giving an honest review and trolling. Don't be a troll.
