"HOW ROLAND ROLLS, winner of a 2013 Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Award, is a story about a wave named Roland who's afraid that, one day, when he hits the beach, his life will be over. But when he gets deep, he's struck by the notion that he's not just a wave - he's the whole big, wide ocean! The story shows humanity's interconnectedness through the metaphor of a wave in the ocean."

I was first struck by the artwork. I knew from the cover that it was going to be an unforgettable and imaginative read. Jim Carrey manages to convey a very important message that would benefit young and old. As Roland journeys through the deep blue sea, he discovers that he is more than just a wave, he is the ocean, he is the river, the lakes and our tears (Loved that). No matter how small or different we are, if we look deep enough, we'll discover that we are so much more than we or anyone could ever perceive us to be. We are all human and together we make up the great big world. Fantastic! Every kid should own a copy of How Roland Rolls.
