Since this is my new blog, I have to start over everything from scratch so let me recap first before I dive right into season 3.
Rick wakes up to find himself in the ZA. He's confused, disoriented and looking for his wife and son; Lori and Carl. He stumbles out of the hospital room and sees dead bodies everywhere, except they aren't dead...blah blah blah. He's saved by Glen and joins his group in a store. (Andrea, T.dog, Merle etc...) Merle is a racist and a drunk. He hurls some nasty words at t.dog then proceeds to beat the crap out of him. Rick steps in like the mighty sheriff that he is, lays the smack down and handcuffs Merle to the roof for some time out. They find a way off the roof, but T.dog drops the key and now Merle is left there to die like an animal. Sure, he was weird, racist and whatnot and even tried to put his foot down as the new supreme leader of the herd but he didn't deserve it. Rick reunites with his wife and son, turns out they were with Glen's group somewhere outside Atlanta. The reunion is bitter-sweet for Lori, she's been having an affair with Rick's best friend and deputy; Shane. To be fair, she did think she was a widow....Shane is devastated...We meet Daryl, the almighty crossbow wielder and squirrel hunter. He's upset, his bother was Merle. They go back for him, but all they find is his sawed off arm. They get back to camp. It's over-run. Amy, Jim and Carol's abusive husband are the first major casualties of the group. They pack up whatever supplies and hope they have left and take a trip to the CDC. It's over-run too and after some yelling and banging on the door, Dr. Jenner finally opens up. He whispers something in Rick's ear, but we don't know what it is, Rick looks stunned by what he'd just heard and leaves. Dr. Jenner and Jackie stay behind and blow up with the CDC.
Season 2 opens up with a bang. The group are on the highway when a herd of walkers come storming through. Sophia makes a silly move and crawls from under the car before making sure the coast is clear. It's not and she chased by two walkers. Rick goes after her and tells her to stay put while he leads the walkers away, if he's not back then go back the way they came and keep the sun on her left. Sophia never makes it back to the highway and a search and rescue ensues. Carl is shot in the search...then we come upon Herschel's farm.
BLAH BLAH BLAH -
The writers are clearly fans of the term ‘ironic.” First of all I DID NOT see Dale’s death coming! My heart broke into a million little pieces when the walker tore into him, and even after all that I still thought he would make it…but let’s rewind for a second because this episode eluded to Dale’s death from the beginning. I was just to blinded of my love for him and all those hats and his ability to see and know everything that goes around camp. *sigh* Anyways, Dale fought really hard to save that Randall’s life not knowing that his own life was reaching is inevitable end. IRONIC. Then he goes up to Shane and was all like, “I’m not going anywhere and you’re not going anywhere.” Then BAM, they both ended up dead. IRONIC.
Speaking of Shane I have a love hate relationship with his death. On one hand I’m bursting with joy that we are finally rid of the camp devil but on the other hand, who is there left to hate? I guess T.dog??? Not that I truly, “hated” Shane. He was a misunderstood man who’s world crumbled when Rick came back from the dead. All his hopes and dreams of being a family with Lori and Carl were dashed to pieces that probably never existed in the first place. No, I don't think I hated Shane at all, I just hated the man he became in the end. Then came the big reveal, EVERYONE IS INFECTED, they ARE the Walking Dead, not the walkers. And FYI, I called this from the beginning. I knew this was what Dr. Jenner told him...yeah, I read the comics.
Anyways I’m going to cut this short and sum up everything that made this season AMAZING!!!
* Sophia’s exit from the barn as a walker
*Shane sacrificing Otis
*Carl’s disappearing acts (seriously kid, why is it that when someone tells you to go inside, you’re never actually inside the house?)
*Carl throwing rocks at the walker. (I think I shall call him rocky)
*Everything about Daryl (Team Dixon)
*Rick and Shane’s many showdowns
*Shane’s downward spiral into madness
*Lori’s driving or lack of driving skills
*Herschel’s unlimited ammo in the finale
*Andrea’s ninja moment. Girl ran all night and day with a bag full of ammo.
*Michonne’s appearance (Pet walkers? Where can I get one?)
Favourie Quote: When Herschel declares that he’s willing to die for his farm if he has to and Daryl says, “It’s a good a night as any.”
I would also like to say R.I.P to: Dale, Sophia, the R.V, Herschel’s farm, Shane, Patricia, Randall, Otis, Jimmy and the barn walkers.
